Even if you dont care at all about fashion, you have heard of Chanel. Why? because the house has been around since 1913 and the brand keeps getting better and better. Chanel changed the way women dressed over the last century. I recently watched her biography and was amazed to see how she came from humble beginnings. She understood the type of clothes women needed at very pivotal times in history and her ideas were a launching pad for many other designers. Since she passed in 1971, the house was taken over by Philipppe Guiborge and in 1983, Karl Lagerfield became the artistic director and remains so to this day.
