Gorgeous Faux.

Ok, so try telling me you don't feel warmer just by looking at these cozy faux furs:) Faux fur has been on the fashion forefront for a while now but seems like its not going anywhere...and I couldn't be happier...I mean, fur in itself is so beautiful but why wear real fur when faux fur is getting better and better in quality?... even leather companies are starting to re-think their production and use other materials to look and feel like leather...for example...Mat and Nat Vegan Handbags and accessories. All I have to say is Bravo! Why not preserve the life of the animals on our planet?
All that to say... I need to buy some more faux fur! lol

Ashish.

Ashish Gupta is the newest darling Designer in London, launching show after show that's seemingly making front rows stand up and take notice. A graduate of Fashion Design at the Central St.Martins in UK, Ashish has been developing his name among celebs over the last few years but this year its as if his pieces are being seen every where. The other day I added a photo of a Paris street style look to my blog thinking the girl was wearing an old vintage skirt...turns out it was one of his classic African/Bollywood glitter inspired items that are instantly becoming classic.
Ashish was born in India and now owns homes in Toronto as well as New York. I really love the attitude of the clothes. The girl who wears these clothes needs to be full of personality, creativity and quite frankly...comfortable with standing out in a crowd... LOVE IT.
These clothes remind me of the street looks of Tokyo...one of my favourite cities in the world:)
Here are my favs from the show...

Just AnOther Magazine.

I arrived early to a design meeting at a Starbucks yesterday...so while waiting I wandered around the magazine section in the neighboring Chapters Bookstore... low and behold...I was captured by this absolutely stunning magazine cover featuring Bjork. The cover and inside story was photographed by Inez and Vinhoodh, a married photography duo who work together as fashion photographers. They literally shoot side by side...one of them capturing the attention of their subject and the other one 'steals' images like a fly on the wall...Brilliant. I love the high contrast in these images...the minimal grays allow for a sharpness and edge to the images. I was never a huge Bjork fan but wow, does she ever photograph beautifully.

Honest Approach.

I've been researching the most influencial portrait photographers and I keep coming across works by the one and only Brigitte Lacombe. Originally from Paris and now residing in New York, Brigitte has captured the most famous and interesting faces. There are many things I could say about her work but I think the thing I love the most is that her photos are honest. They really capture the soul of the person...she seems to wait until the person is willing to truly show who they are and then she begins to shoot. In a recent interview, she said when shooting portraits she asks everyone to leave the room so that she can work one on one with the subject, so that her and her subject can interact and create images that are real. What a refreshing thought...I mean...it just makes sense. Here are a selection of her images. Enjoy. xo

Erdem Moralioglu is the latest Canadian invading the Fashion world. Montreal Born and raised...he studied Fashion in both Toronto (Ryerson University) and then after doing an internship with Vivienne Westwood...yes you heard me....he moved to London and studied fashion at the Royal Collage of Art. Following School he worked with Diane Von Furtenburg in New York for one year...not bad for a first gig eh? wow. After winning major fashion awards in London...he launched his own brand in 2005 and its been big biz since then....dressing people like Michelle Obama, Keira Knightly, Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Ritchie, Elle MacPherson, Claudia Schiffer and Chloe Sevigny to name a few...

Leda & St. Jacques.

Leda & St. Jacques hit it out of the park with the photography of this stunningly beautiful editorial in Decembers Elle Canada, featuring my new favourite face...the lovely Crystal Renn. The cool tones and dream like setting are capitalized by the soft focus on the horses and the gorgeous fabrics. I love the intentional blur and fuzzy edges. The pops of candy red are what makes this entire story flow together seamlessly. This story inspires me...
