NYC Fashion Week...

hey there beauties;)
here is a great vid from fashion week in New York.... I mean obviously the fashion is stunning and the beauty is...well, next level, but the thing I notice is that this vid is all about the models. Its like watching the life of a model during fashion week. I must admit I had to giggle when I saw the faces of many of the models and how bored they looked! lol... what can I say girls... in fashion its all about the "hurry up and wait" syndrome.... its like waiting around all day to be told to move at the time people ask you to... in the way you are told to.... models are chameleons and they must be ready to play a new role at every show... and honestly I think it takes a lot of patience to be in this world and be fresh faced for every client. To all the models reading this blog, you are not just a beautiful face and a body, you are a special person and one of a kind.
Enjoy the vid ladies. xo.

vintage & reinvention.

darlings,
its no secret that I have a love for vintage shops and markets. Its like a playland for me to find something that inspires me to reinvent it and incorporate it into my life. So when I came across these shots of Brooklyns flea markets on the tuula vintage blog, I had to stop and day dream for a moment...:) These photos make me want to take a detour while on tour and somehow have a stop over in New York for a day.... and walk through the markets with the hubby in tow. Chris and I love to wander through antique and vintage shops in search of hidden gems. These are the things reinventions are made of. xo.

new feature!

hello beauties.
A few weeks ago I received an email from the Founder of Psalms 91:1 accessories, Sally Han.
She was emailing me to tell me I had been chosen as the newest "Get to know..." feature on the Psalms Newsletter. Here is the link so you can check it out!

I was totally honoured to be chosen. I have featured this accessory brand on the blog before, as I have a huge respect for the humanitarian nature of the company, not to mention they are brilliant at designing jewelry! Each piece is inspired by a story from the designers travels all over the world. Sally is always partnering with humanitarian efforts to help people who are less fortunate. Thank you Psalms team for featuring me. I am truly honoured. x.

Behind the Scenes: Alyssa Danelle Fashion Shoot

hello darlings.
Two days ago I had the honour of shooting the first ever lookbook for "Alyssa Danelle", a young fashion label out of Southern California, featuring Designer/Sister duo, Christian and Destanie Reyna. They decided to first focus on scarves and later plan to develop into purses and clothing garments. These two girls are a young, brilliant and creative duo to look out for! They remind me of Mary Kate and Ashley, as far as their business sense and creative expression through fashion. And they also both just happen to be absolutely stunning, so I was thrilled they decided to model the pieces themselves. I am going through the shoot as we speak... but I thought I would share a few pics from the day taken on their iphones. Once the photos are ready I will give you all a sneak peak and fill you in on how you can be the first to get your hands on one of their creations! xo.

Artists inspire me.

Joel Bruyure from TFK

hello lovelies.
There is something about experiencing live music... being within spit radius of an artist who is pouring their heart out in front of an audience of people, with no fear or care of the possible response. That, my friend... is courage. I am inspired by music, better yet... I am inspired my music artists. As you look at these photos I shot on tour, you will see why. People say pictures say a thousand words.... in that case, I'll let the photos do the talkin'.
Enjoy. xo.

the stage.

darlings,
If you don't already know him by now, allow me to introduce you to my rock star husband, Chris (aka Manafest). And no, I don't call him Manafest at home.... however I do call him Mana sometimes... which I must admit is kinda weird....lol
As mentioned before I was just on the Maple Noise tour with the band, so I thought I would share some shots I took on the last night of tour. Photographing live music never gets old to me.... give me some ear plugs (cause Im right beside the speakers) and Im good to go;) Enjoy.

p.s. In the photos you will also see the new stage banners I just designed... they are HUGE and look awesome on stage. Every night when the guys would open them up, the crowd would cheer.... so fun:) Nothing like a live crowd to give raw reaction... Big Shout out to all the fans who came out and rocked hard!

To get more info on the hubby, check out:

***Special shout out to Elizabeth, Mikayla, Shelby and Anna from Crystal Springs, Mississippi who wrote to me to tell me they love the blog:) so sweet! Im glad you girls are enjoying it!
xo.

(Travis our drummer's expression here is priceless...lol)

quote me on this, my love...

hello beauties.
I am excited to announce..... drum roll please..... I have officially been "quoted"!
I was contacted several weeks back by tiastar.com to give a "quote" on my personal motto on fashion, as they wanted to incorporate it into their lookbook for fall. They were seeking out creative Canadians who are into fashion, and I was honoured to even be contacted. I in no way consider myself a "fashion expert"... in fact, I don't believe such a thing exists. Fashion and style are like art.... completely subjective. Just because something may be trendy, does not mean it suits everyone or even makes sense for everyone. Its all about feeling good getting dressed everyday. So what was my official quote you ask?..... well i must say it was a strange experience to ask myself my "motto".... but when I cleared my mind and thought about what I feel about getting dressed everyday.... here is what ensued....

"Style is a state of mind."
-Melanie Greenwood, VisionCity.biz

Simple. To the Point. And most of all, honest.
Style is truly a state of mind for me... its feeling confident and comfortable in my own skin. Its accepting myself and loving myself, just as I am. Its about not apologizing for pursuing the best version of myself. Its playing in my closet. Its cutting a strapless dress in half to make it into a skirt.... with scissors from the kitchen...lol....voala! Its layering all the fun pieces together that make me smile and walking out my front door. And smiling on the inside all day long....
xo.

p.s. I must also ad... I love how they decided to incorporate Llamas into the lookbook shoot... unexpected, yet.... brilliant! :)
