Juno Night!

So its about 9am here in Toronto and I just got back from dropping my husband back to the airport. He flew in on Saturday morning just in time for us to hit up all the Juno Festivities. Chris (aka Manafest) was nominated for a Juno Award this year and I could not be more proud of him:) Although he did not take home the award, being nominated and getting a chance to go to the awards was an incredible experience to say the least. Saturday night was a Gala Dinner at the Allstream centre, where 2000 people were seated for a gorgeous dinner, while they handed out 18 Juno awards and featured live performances. We ducked out a little early to make it on time for Chris's concert that night at the Rivoli on Queen St. I have lots of photos to share, but today Im gonna focus on Sunday evenings Juno awards. It was our first time at a Red Carpet event like this and it was a night we will never forget! We ran into artists like K'Naan, Kardinal Offishall, Drake, Die Mannequin, Down with Webster, Bare Naked Ladies, Billy Talent... oh and my personal fav was running into the Fashion Designer Duo Dsquared. Here are some photos of the night.... xo.
Rockin' the Cherry Apple Art Hair Jewelry!
This is the tent where all the celebs would arrive before hitting the red carpet.
The Red Carpet.... now this was just madness...
I ran into Dean and Dan, the Designers of Dsquared... and yes...they are eating hot dogs...lol. These guys are my favourite Canadian Designers. They were accompanied by their muse, Super Model Chanel Iman, one of the newest faces of Victoria Secret.
I met Tre Armstrong, a judge on 'So you think you can dance'.
Hangin with K'Naan, a few minutes before the show started...ya, we're pretty much hommies...;)
Chris met Billy Talent and got to chat it up for a bit about Music.
Down With Webster Performance.
We were seated in row 7, a few rows behind Arcade Fire, Shania Twain and Classified.
VIP After Party at The Liberty Grand.

Its so much fun when I get work on a creative projects with friends!
Our model was the Lovely Rebecca MacIntosh...and she worked the camera like a pro:)
Steph created three entirely different looks to showcase the hair products.

out with the old...

... and in with the new!
I unexpectedly ran into my friend Cora at Starbucks on Saturday. We hadn't seen each other in ages... so i grabbed an Americano and sat down for a quick chat...
our quick chat turned into a two hour chat! We had so much to talk about:)
Cora is such an inspiring and positive person that just listening to her talk about what God has done in her life lifted me up. Spending time with her was like being pumped full of life and faith. She truly radiates positive energy. Our chat reminded me of the power of letting go of the old, and embracing the new things in life. As the saying goes...
the only constant in life....is change.
So what did I do with all this inspiration? well...I attacked my closet...obviously! lol... My friend Jenn came by and she became my jury as I pled the case for each item in my closet... she voted either... keep, toss or donate... (and she felt the need to play the Red Hot Chilli Peppers song...Give it away...lol...classic.)
Well darlings.... here were the results... I literally tossed and donated more than half of my wardrobe.... and man does that feel good:) I feel like I lost weight. Better yet...Out with the old... and in with the new.

modern day hippie

Growing up I always loved to look at old photos of my mother in her cool hippie outfits in the 60's and 70's... I always wanted to dress like that myself. I've personally always been drawn to the "boho" style... long layers, oversized sweaters, large jewellery, long skirts, fringe....etc.... so its kinda fun that there are so many stores out there that are paying homage to the "boho" this spring. One that comes to mind is H and M. Here are some photos from their magazine, from their "the new boho chic" editorial. I love the feel of this story...the mix of cool, no-fuss fashion with the music lifestyle is amazing. It reminds me of touring with my hubby;)

Good Morning Darlings...
I just wanted to thank you all for your beautiful birthday wishes!
I turned 30 on friday March 4th...and this was the best birthday ever:)
My amazing hubby spoiled me in LA and then I came home to my friends and family waiting to celebrate with me. It was such a special birthday and I will never forget it!
I have many photos to follow, but here is a pic of me and my two best friends on the night of my birthday! It was an incredible night and my feet are still sore from rocking my 6 inch platform heels... but hey... it was worth it baby!

Sara Strese

I walked into this adorable trendy cafe in East Nashville today to grab an Americano...and I felt like I was in a gallery. There were these amazing massive paintings hanging on all the walls...and they completely took my attention off of my order. I immediately began to wander around and look at each painting...the closer I got to them the more beautiful they became. Each one featured a close cropped famous face. The painter's name is Sara Strese...and she had just came in and hung the paintings this morning.
Todays blog is to show some love to this fabulous Nashville artist....

To see more work, visit Sara's website: www.sarastrese.com

One thing I notice about Nashville is that this City truly celebrates its artists by giving them the opportunity to be showcased.
