Skillet Chicks...

Last night I stood two feet from the stage at a Skillet show while they played for a stadium of 14,000 head banging teens. All I have to say is WOW! This show was explosive...no seriously...there was stuff blowing up! The pyro-technics were stunning. I had a sound guy walk up to me and tell me to put ear plugs in. Thank you sound man:) my ears drums appreciated that. Photographing this band was so much fun. The best part was watching the girls in the band rock out. The lead singer John and lead guitarist Korey are married and oh yes...this little wifey can rock out. I love how she was dressed in a cute little outfit but still rocked out as hard as the boys. The drummer Jen, is a cute blonde who ripped it up. All the guys were raging after the show about how she killed it on the drums. I love seeing chicks who are fearless...we need more girls who are willing to inspire they way these ladies did last night.

Here are just a few of the shots I got...enjoy.

Sui Sauce...

Of all the designers I love in New York, Anna Sui is way up there...especially because nothing was handed to her. She was a young woman with a dream, that started in a small apartment in New York and has now grown into an empire. Anna's style is a mash up between cool New Yorker chick and artsy, craft loving hippy. In interviews, she says her influences stem from rock music, the 70's and the arts and craft movement. I respect her as an artist, because she never seems to follow the trend, but she is true to her own personal vision. Here are some pieces from her Summer line that I thought were beautiful.

Famous Faces...

In all honesty, I never read Interview magazine, but wow... their covers are stunning. I love how they consistently feature a beautiful famous face...then they let their design department take over and inject their artful touches of color, illustration and texture. Each cover looks like an art piece in itself, infusing photography with retouching and color...with their title typography remaining the only staple. These covers inspire me to play more...and let my love for painting, illustration and photography mingle together...and see what can happen...

Hey, why not...

Marc by Marc Jacobs spring line is full of color, fun and whimbsy:) ... now I have to admit, I was a bit thrown by the massive bows on the top of the girls heads...but when I stand back and view the overall looks from head to toe...it all just kind of...works. These outfits scream... "I'm fun! and I don't take life too seriously...oh and I like to laugh too..." and hey, why not...life is meant to be enjoyed. Marc Jacobs always puts on a show that people go home talking about...but within the line there are always amazing pieces that you can wear every day. Whenever I feel the nerve to walk through Holt Renfrew and peak at the latest gear, I'm always naturally drawn to Marc Jacobs...then I take a moment and pretend I can afford it...lol...then the moment passes... one day my friend...one day...

I heart London!

Whenever Chris and I hit London, I am always blown away with the strong fashion in the streets, the energy of the people and the overall attitude in their swagger! London'ers have a strut and confidence like no other city. They all look like they just threw on clothes, walked out the door and just happen to look fabulous. They never look overdone... in fact, they look underdone...but perfect. Here are some of my favourite photos from a Burberry campaign that really exude the attitude....I heart London!

A marraige of the arts.

My husband and I run a company called Manafest Productions. It combines both our passions...mine being photography/design and his being music. The art department is my baby... and we named her Vision City... (http://www.visioncity.biz)

From time to time, our roles will reverse and my husband will ask for my input on a song he is writing....and then there are times when he will turn the camera on me and play photographer...he did just that the other day after our visit to Much Music...it was a gorgeous day in Toronto and everyone was out on the Queen Street patios enjoying the sun. We had a few quite moments before a very loud rock show at the Rivoli...here are a few of his shots...
