Keep Dreaming.

This "Arizona Dream" fashion story in the latest H and M magazine has got to be my favourite shoot I've ever seen this brand produce. I love everything about these images...the romance, the dust, the attitude, the loose textures, the horse silhouettes, the natural sunlight...absolutely beautiful. This gives me so many ideas for future shoots! The lovely Anja Rubik graces the pages of this spread with effortless beauty. This story was photographed by Camilla Akrans. I must look up more of her work...

Fashion gets some curves.

Crystal Renn is a plus size model who is turning the fashion world on its head!
I keep hearing about this voluptuous beauty and seeing her being interviewed and after hearing her story, I can see why. She began modeling at the age of 14 after being scouted at an etiquette school and was immediately told she needed to loose 9 inches around her hips...which was 75 pounds! So within one year, this little girl lost the weight by exercising everyday and eating only lettuce and come veggies... Soon after that, she began loosing her hair, having dizzy spells and literally could not walk. Anorexia had taken over her life. So she had to make the choice to give up her dreams of modeling and start eating again. Ironically, when she reached her personal healthy body size of a size 12, her modeling career began to take off and today she is the top plus size model in the industry. WOW. Her story is fascinating and I think literally breaths a sigh of relief for plus size models everywhere, let alone the average north American women, who by the way is a size 14.

Crystal has been shooting for Vogue, Elle and loads of other mags...and recently opened and closed a fashion show for Jean Paul Gauthier.

Here is a link to her story by fashion television on you tube. I was not able to embed the video but its worth checking out. Also, see her images below...

Crystal recently released a book called "Hungry"... which is selling like crazy....

Fall kicks off...

Soooo....you may have noticed I have not been blogging as often as before...please do forgive me my dears...as the saying goes..."when it rains it pours"...this is the best way to describe my life right now. After getting back from a 5 week European tour, you would think I would have some down time...nope! not in Melanie land....every fall it seems the beginning of September marks an alarm for clients everywhere to need my attention and this year is no different. Both modeling and my freelance design and photography work all seem to be running full steam....at the same time! :) ..... but I would never complain, because I absolutely love what I do...so BRING IT ON BABY>>>>
But one thing that is comforting to me during all the chaos is that I enjoy this time of year for fashion. I love wearing cozy layers and hats and pulling out the old boots and wellies...theres something about this time of year that motivates us....well...motivates us to shop anyway...lol...well onward and upward people. Make your first stop Urban Outfitters...well, I would...here are some of my fav's right now... xo

25 Hours in Amsterdam!

Hello lovelies....
We arrived in Amsterdam at 9 am and left the following morning at 10 am. 25 Hours in Amsterdam was an experience I will never forget. The whole trip was a last minute booking my hubby got, to play at Flavo Festival. The festival drew 15,000 people to the water bank location. The day was super hot, so much so, we decided to take a dip in the lake with our clothes on...hey why not:) Hope you enjoy the vid.

:) xo
