Behind the Scenes: Alyssa Danelle Fashion Shoot

hello darlings.
Two days ago I had the honour of shooting the first ever lookbook for "Alyssa Danelle", a young fashion label out of Southern California, featuring Designer/Sister duo, Christian and Destanie Reyna. They decided to first focus on scarves and later plan to develop into purses and clothing garments. These two girls are a young, brilliant and creative duo to look out for! They remind me of Mary Kate and Ashley, as far as their business sense and creative expression through fashion. And they also both just happen to be absolutely stunning, so I was thrilled they decided to model the pieces themselves. I am going through the shoot as we speak... but I thought I would share a few pics from the day taken on their iphones. Once the photos are ready I will give you all a sneak peak and fill you in on how you can be the first to get your hands on one of their creations! xo.

rock it.

hello lovelies.
my style plays between both earthly bohemian and edgy rock vibe... it really depends on the day:) but never the less, I am always drawn to unique, strong pieces to add to my wardrobe... that I can mix in with old items I've had forever. These amazing dresses and coat from Balmain are perfect for just that.... I mean... through on an old pair of ankle boots and go! No fuss required.... perfection;) ....mind you.... if your gonna rock a short metallic rocker dress... your gonna have to kinda own it.... confidence is the only accessory needed:) xo.

art + love = purpose

I love when fashion & art collide with a beautiful cause.
Psalms 91:1 Accessories is a perfect example of this happy collision. Toronto's own Sally Han is the founder of this brand and she has a vision for more then just creating beautiful pieces. From its inception, Psalms has been connected to charity fund raisers and humanitarian causes; from the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital to world crisis such as the Haiti relief efforts. Sally has traveled to Namibia and Native Reserves as a volunteer in order to reach out to those who are less fortunate. Her and her team work to reflect the experiences they have through creative pieces... as Sally is quoted in saying "there's a story behind every piece".

Psalms 91:1
"He who dwells in the shelter of the most high, will rest in the shadow of the almighty..."

Todays blog is to show love to a company that shows love to people on a regular basis. We need more people like you. xo.

texture.

hello darlings....
today I write you from Alaska..... yes.... the beautiful vast landscape of the North.... I flew in this morning at 4:30am.... (don't ask...lol...) and somehow today I am totally not tired. Maybe its just the excitement of being in such a coveted beautiful place that makes me sit on the edge of my seat.... I mean.... in Toronto we have hills, here I am surrounded my Mountains and tons of wild life....love it! I left the hot smoggy summer for a cooler climate and of course brought a few faux furs to keep cozy.... and it reminded me of a creative shoot I did recently with my adorable friend Charity Goring. Charity is a fun, creative....and ummmm not to mention stunning friend of mine who is always a pleasure to photograph! Here are some shots from her shoot, playing with fur and crochet textures.... LOVE.

play.

is it just me or does getting dressed everyday feel like play? I mean, life can feel a bit too serious sometimes.... right? when I see people strutin' down the street who look like they've just thrown together a playful and fun outfit, it reminds me to LIGHTEN UP! bottom line is who cares what's "hot" right now... or whatever.... style is style. Clothes can be bought but style is about personality. Here are some random and lovely looks off look book.

oh Stella...

I came across this resort wear collection today by none other than the Minimalist Genius, also known as Stella McCartney. I love the ease of these clothes. She creates such strong tailoring and lines that even if you decided to not do your hair, like the model...lol.... you would still look effortlessly fabulous! Amen to that! I mean, who has time to primp themselves in a mirror for an hour? not me! I like low maintenance, fun and easy clothes that are not going to stress me out;) I don't know about you, but I don't want extra stress in my life. Fashion is supposed to be fun. Thanks Stella! xo.

modern day hippie

Growing up I always loved to look at old photos of my mother in her cool hippie outfits in the 60's and 70's... I always wanted to dress like that myself. I've personally always been drawn to the "boho" style... long layers, oversized sweaters, large jewellery, long skirts, fringe....etc.... so its kinda fun that there are so many stores out there that are paying homage to the "boho" this spring. One that comes to mind is H and M. Here are some photos from their magazine, from their "the new boho chic" editorial. I love the feel of this story...the mix of cool, no-fuss fashion with the music lifestyle is amazing. It reminds me of touring with my hubby;)
