Forget all the Fuss...

My life can feel like a balancing act. I wear many hats...the designer, the model, the photographer, the traveler, the wife, the entrepenuer, the friend......deep breath.......
So when I feel overwhelmed, I like to reach for things that are soothing, simple and easy to wear. I love these pieces from Chloe's Resort 2011 collection. They are so simple that they are actually interesting...they seem to intentionally go against all things ornate and Gaga...if you know what I mean...these outfits are quiet...but they really do make you focus on the person who's wearing them...Even though these are such simple looks I think the person who wears them needs to be confident in who they are. This is for the girl who has no time for drama...she's too busy being successful. Forget all the Fuss...

Tiny Little Bottles...

From time to time I catch myself wondering through the beauty section of those big department stores and I am always amazed at the creative expression embodied in these tiny little bottles. How do you decide how to package a beautiful scent? Well, I think its more then just the scent...its the way the campaign makes us feel...its how we identify ourselves. I remember being in a design class in college and the instructor asked "what makes people drawn to certain products and not drawn to others?"... we all shouted out answers but we were all wrong... she said "people will always be drawn to items that actually reflect how they identify themselves." I think she was right. We pretend the packaging does not matter...but in reality, we are drawn to things that reflect us...or what we want to be.

Here is a selection of some of my favourite packaging designs for perfumes... :)

Chloe & Calvin Klein Euphoria

Marc Jacobs Daisy & Stella McCartney

Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lovers

Jessica Simpson Fancy & Armani Code

Chloe girl...

I love these photos for Chloe's fall 2008 campaign. They feel so real and as if you are seeing snap shots from a funny film. Although this is a campaign for a huge fashion line, its as if the clothing takes second place to the feeling and expression in the images. It seems like they are not just selling the designs but also the idea of being free spirited and fun...and that is what really draws people in. I'm not sure of the shooter...but I love the campaign. I think fashion is meant to work within our life style and not for us to adapt to fit fashion of the moment...its about living day to day and enjoying the moments God gives us to live. Here is a selection from the campaign... :)
