here comes the sun...

Ok, I know what your thinking... its freezing outside... and here in Toronto there was a blizzard yesterday...lol... but cheer up girls...the winter will not last forever. Soon enough we will be digging through our closets in search of something to wear for the sudden warm days that appear.... and realizing our pale legs need some emergency self tanner...asap! :) Well, to give you all a head start, here is a look ahead to some of my favourite looks that H and M will be releasing for Spring. Can't you just hear the song... "here comes the sun little darlin'... "
Enjoy! xo

little diamond on Queen.

Hello Beauties:)
Its been a while since my last blog, but I've been working on several creative projects with Vision City... and cranking out the goods... but I finally got a moment to share something with you all. I came across this adorable little vintage shop online that I must have walked by several times, since its on Queen Street West in Toronto... Its called Cabaret, and it looks like a true Vintage diamond. They feature styles from the 20s to the 70s and have been known to have celebrities drop in while they are in Toronto...people like Liv Tyler, Bjork, Mandy Moore, Feist, K-os, Kaesha and even the twin Designer team Dsquared2. I checked out the prices and they do seem a little expensive but on the other hand, these pieces have been preserved from decades of history and as the saying goes, everything goes in a circle... and comes back into style. If you are a vintage fan like me, you may want to pay a visit to this little shop the next time your on Queen...I know I will:)
Here is their campaign images and their store front so you wont just pass it by...
oh ya and the address is 672 Queen Street West, Toronto

the inspired will inspire...

I was flipping through February's Marie Claire and I came across this amazing woven tank design...and when I looked at the credits, I was intrigued by what it said. The designers name is Lauren Manoogian and her story is one that inspires me.
She is an artist with a small studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY and she is being referred to as a fashion pioneer because of her creations with wholly organic and unusual objects. Her designs consist of mainly accessories and ready to wear knits. She gathers materials from everywhere... Im talking scrap metals, warehouses and even office supplies. She stands out with bright colours and unusual ideas, which is really refreshing! She even launched her line with a collection of brightly coloured necklaces made of paper clips and painted leather bracelets. Like, talk about taking a chance... launching a fashion accessory line made of paper clips in New York... one of the biggest fashion capitols of the world! wow. But guess what...people liked it and now her pieces are showing up in mags everywhere.... :)

This chick inspires me because she is following her heart. Sometimes your heart will lead you out on a limb, but when you are at peace with your own heart, being out on a limb is the most comfortable place you can be. Food for thought.

I leave you with a quote from Lauren that I completely relate to:
"I love that this is my job and that anything and everything is fair game and ‘work related’ because you never know where ideas will come from. The rest of the business is discipline.”

Here is her studio in action...

easy does it.

It's 2:24 am, and i just finished working for the day.... ya. But I won't complain, I love every minute of creating ideas and images for a living:) and since Im still wide awake from all the coffee I drank earlier this evening...lol...I figured, I should touch base and do a quick blog.
Here are a bunch of pics from lookbook of styles that are kinda thrown together ... but just happen to look amazing. Ever notice when your getting dressed in a rush, a look can just come together so easily...but when you have time to mull through the wardrobe, its like pulling teeth?
or is it just me?

ok... seriously....time for zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

and the beat goes on...

Im sitting in a loud Starbucks working on my laptop, while killing time between two photo shoots...thats right my dear...no time to waste:) For some reason though, I find I always get lots of work done when working in loud cafes...strange but true:) I'm super excited to be working on my current projects and yes, I will show the finals when we are ready to rock. But for now, I will show one of my favourite logos I've designed...my hubbys logo:) Its not just because he's my man...but because its been really cool to see how this logo has shown up all over the world...in magazines, posters, banners, shirts, stickers, skateboards....you name it! This logo is actually starting to sink in as his artist identity.... and that, my friend, is the power of branding. xo

facing forward.

Hello Darlings....
I'm so excited to write to you all because today is a massively special day of the year. Today is the day we wave a final goodbye to all the joys and sorrows of the past and we face forward to the new year ahead... which will be here in a matter of hours:) I love the idea of renewal. I even have the words RENEW on the door of my office so that everyday when I walk in, I will see it and it will remind me that today is a new day and I need to renew my mind to all the new possibilities this day has to offer. This past year has been a whirlwind of creativity, travel, laughter, tears, fun, stress and everything in between...
This is the year I feel I
truly found myself...well...let me rephrase that...God found me and He introduced me to myself...if that makes any sense...:)
I feel like I know now more then ever what I want from my life and more importantly, what I want to contribute to the world. Now, ladies I know that today you may be scrambling around town trying to find that killer outfit for that special event tonight...but maybe take an hour and do the following:

1. Reflect on the year.
(What were the highlights?)

2. Let go of disappointment...
This was a big one for me...but trust me...you will feel 10 pounds lighter!
This includes forgiving yourself, if you feel disappointed by your own actions.
Lighten up and let go!

3. Forgive others.
Nothing will set you free like when you forgive other people!
plus....most of the time the people we are mad at don't know or don't care...
so why stay angry and let toxins go through your body?!
Choose to forgive them for YOUR SAKE.

4. DREAM!
Close your eyes for a few minutes and let your mind dream.
What if there was nothing in your way?...what would you do? ...
what could you do this year to help other people?
Dreaming is not a waste time... even the bible says
"as a man thinks, so he becomes"
We become what we think about.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! XO
