meeting of the creative minds...

hello darlings...

Last Month in Nashville I got to spend some time with my friend Celi Mosley, while our hubby's worked on new music together. Everyday Chris and I would arrive to Celi and Seth's home studio and the boys would go work on music, while Celi and I would turn the main living area into our very own creative design studio. We'd brew coffee, set up our laptops, talk through concepts we were working on, share retouching tricks.... and of course bounce ideas off each other. Celi is not only an innovative photographer but also brilliant at retouching. During our two weeks together, we took a day to shoot in her studio.... with no rules other than to play with light. Here is a selection of photos from the shoot. I love the vintage feel of the images and how the lighting feels like a dream...

The City of lights for real...this place never sleeps.



9 Hot coffee in vending machines
ya, you heard me...the vending machines serve hot coffee...boy was that ever a surprise:)



8 The wild people
I thought the people in Whistle BC were wild, until I went to Tokyo.



7 Mini-everything
So everything you can think of in Japan is in miniature form...the hotel rooms, the food portions...even their delivery trucks were mini...adorable.



6 Anime
Beside the hotel there was an Anime company and they had these huge life size characters on the sidewalk...and when it rained they put custom rain coats on them...soooo cute.



5 Crepes
While exploring the city, friends and I had a chance to try the fresh crepe kiosks...all I have to say is...strawberry vanilla, chocolate drizzly..yuu-uumm. (sorry...no picture for this one...it would make you drool anyway...)



4 Harajuku
Harajuku is a district of Tokyo where art has taken over! For real. Its like a cartoon land of inspiration where art is everywhere! The walls are filled with illustration, the vintage shops feature local designers who re-work old pieces, and this area is constantly bustling with travelers and busy artistic locals. Amazing.



3 Organized Chaos!
There are so many people in constant motion in all directions but there's never a traffic jam...now that's called Organized Chaos.



2 Street Style
The style on the street is like no where else I've ever seen. Everyone is completely individual and they are proud of their unique approach to dressing every morning. Film and photography crews were frequently seen interviewing the local girls about their personal style and I can see why.



1 Honor
In Japan, honor is everything. I think we can learn a lot from the Japanese culture about how to honor each other and show courtesy and respect. For example, the Japanese bow greeting is symbolic of how honor is displayed to one another. I was really amazed at the beauty of the Japanese culture.

Above the clouds.

There is something about flying that takes my mind to another place. My days are filled with motion. Cars, buses, subways, trains, cabs, skate boards, heel toe express....motion! I mean I love to travel but sometimes you just want to be still. Like in one place. But when I fly, even though I know we are moving at an extremely fast speed, there is a kind of stillness that I actually look forward to. I turn on an ipod and just sit...still. And even though I know I am flying over busy cities below, up here there is a beauty that the people on the ground cannot see. All that is between the stressful chaos and the tranquil stillness are clouds. Sometimes I need to step back and take a deep breath. Sometimes I need to go above the clouds to get some perspective on how beautiful life really is.
