thank you.

hello darlings.
yes its been a while but I am just finally feeling back to myself after traveling across Canada with my hubby and 9 other bands on the MapleNoise Tour... and when I say traveling I mean being the only girl on a tour bus with 13 men, including TFK, To Tell, our band and production team. I must say though, these guys were awesome to travel with and I felt like one of the boys for 10 days.
One of the special moments on this tour was in Veron, BC when a bunch of us were presented with true to photo illustrations by an artist named Kayleigh Semeniuk. Kaleigh is a brilliant artist (as you can see) and we were all surprised and excited to receive her gifts. I for one was flat out shocked to be one of her illustrations.... I mean, Im not a singer and I don't play in the band... but she still took the time to create this beautiful art piece for me. WOW. All of us on the Manafest team love the drawings and want to publicly thank Kayleigh again for her kindness.

I have much more to share with you all from tour... but for now, here is a link to check out more of Kayleigh's work:

on the ne-on.

darlings.
So if you thought neons were only reserved for bikini's on the beach.... you thought wrong... Oscar De La Renta has just sent the brightest brights down the runway in everything from office wear to evening wear. Too much??? nah!.... never too much:) When I see these brights they just scream energy and optimism. Like, how can you not be chipper walking to work in a neon? mind you, the people in your office may need to wear shades to just look in your direction...lol.... but thats beside the point. Darlings, its all about how you feel in the clothes.
Get on the ne-on. xo.

cheer up, cupcake.

If a dude rockin' a neon orange suit doesn't scream optimism, I don't know what does. and no.... don't adjust your monitors... these outfits really are this bright! :) Yep, count on Marc by Marc Jacobs to deliver yet another refreshing take on getting dressed everyday. Now...I realize this is the spring collection and its now only September... but getting a sneak peak will help us get through the fall and winter seasons right? If nothing else, let this post serve as a way brighten up your day. Cheer up, cupcake:) xo.

letting go...

hello beauties....
I must share with you all a beautiful day I experienced yesterday while styling a music video shoot for my friend Eimi Hall Middlekauff, in Southern California. Now..... as you all know, I am not a fashion stylist, however in this case, I knew the vibe Eimi was going for, and I happen to have the perfect pieces in my closet.... so.... I played Stylist for the day! so much fun;)
We shot on location in the hills of Yorba Linda, and later made our way to the top of a stunning cliff, just in time for sunset. The weather was mild and breezy and perfect for the shoot. Eimi's song "Open the Door" is a beautiful acoustic song she wrote about letting go of the memories and hurts that weighs us down in life. Its about realizing there is such a beautiful future ahead... if we would just left go of the past and turn our faces forward toward the future. I've heard it said before ...we must let go of that painful thing we hold so tightly in our hands so that our hands are free and open to receive what God wants to give us... how??? forgive.
I always tell Eimi her voice sounds like a mix of Feist and Norah Jones.... and that is no exaggeration. When she sings you can feel the emotion of the lyrics and how much each word means to her. Not only is she is a brilliant writer, singer and guitar player.... but she also wrote the treatment and art directed the video. We had a great team of artists (all girls!) .... all working together as if we had been doing this for years. It was a refreshing day to say the least and I can't wait to see the video edit once its done. xo.

turban it up.

well hello there darlings...
Prada's been playing up the turban since 2007... in a beautiful rich array of colourful silks... but it wasn't until the idea began to show up in less formal fabrics that I began to become fascinated. Well because... ummmmm.... I'm not really too "formal" of a person....;)
Turbans have been around forever.... obviously among cultures in the middle east, but also in contemporary fashion scenes off and on over the last century.
There is something so pretty about the shape they create on the head... as opposed to a regular beanie or sloucher hat... (or tuque! as we call them in Canada!) The shape is feminine and really frames the face. I love this look paired with a little faux fur coat.... low back over sized t-shirt.... or even a billowy blouse.... and of course.... big chunky gold jewelry. As mentioned in yesterdays blog.... this is one of those pieces you gotta just own it... you either love it or your dont.
ummm.... I love it. xo.

rock it.

hello lovelies.
my style plays between both earthly bohemian and edgy rock vibe... it really depends on the day:) but never the less, I am always drawn to unique, strong pieces to add to my wardrobe... that I can mix in with old items I've had forever. These amazing dresses and coat from Balmain are perfect for just that.... I mean... through on an old pair of ankle boots and go! No fuss required.... perfection;) ....mind you.... if your gonna rock a short metallic rocker dress... your gonna have to kinda own it.... confidence is the only accessory needed:) xo.
